Sometimes they don’t have enough resistance to completely wipe you out, but that is not always necessary. They will definitely challenge anyone that is not so familiar with fitness machines. Someone who is completely new to working out will have a good workout for a long time even with a home gym elliptical trainer. If you want to hear my opinion then you should forget everything you know about other machines than elliptical. Stair stepper is not even close to exercise that a good cross trainer can provide. They just stress the lower body muscles and don’t really work on your cardiovascular system. If you have to compare an elliptical trainer to any other machines to get the pros and cons really out there you can choose between a rowing machine and a treadmill. A treadmill just provides you with a surface to run on and that can become boring in a short time. It can even result in to some kind of chronic injuries since the impacts are hard on your joints. Using an elliptical trainer will not challenge your joints but your muscles instead and that is good when it comes to avoiding injuries. A rowing machine is the closest to good elliptical exercise equipment when you think about the versatility of the workout. Although they don’t work on your pushing muscles exept for the ones in your lower body.

For a good workout you really need to have an elliptical machine. It can provide you with the most versatile workouts of all the fitness machines that are out there and it may be the safest choice.
