Creative Ways To Find Discount Fitness Equipment
In these times when money is tight we must seek out ways to reduce our spending. One of the things that gets sacrificed all too often are people’s gym memberships, which can be expensive at some fitness centers. But just because money is tight, does it mean that you have to cut out exercise altogether? I think not, and in fact I believe the amount of exercise you do is only limited by the amount of time on your hands and your ability to think outside the square in terms of how you get your exercise done. A creative “outside the square” option is to find discount fitness equipment at cheaper than retail prices. In many cases, discount gear will cost much less than the equivalent gym fees, but when you purchase it for home use, you can use it whenever you like, freeing up valuable time.
There are a number of options other than retail stores you can try when you are looking for cheap exercise equipment that is suitable for using in your home gym. Fitness centers and gyms are often good places to ask. When these places go out of business, relocate or expand, you can often find deals by approaching these businesses directly. Another way to find equipment significantly cheaper is by shopping online. There is one caveat with buying online however, which is that shipping fees can often be quite high on bulky items like equipment. Alternatively you might find local sellers by looking on Ebay, Craigslist and other auction or advertising type site where private sellers can sell their products. Finding a local seller online, means you can pick up the equipment yourself, saving you a considerable amount on shipping.
It can also be worth while advertising in the “wanted” section of the local newspaper. This way people who wish to offload their old fitness equipment (but don’t wish to publicly admit it) can contact you directly. You can also set your own price limit, thereby filtering out all the time-wasters who do not want to sell at your price range.
Another route is to try organizations like schools and colleges, youth organizations and any other type of group that might have old gear lying around that they want to get rid of. Old gear taking up space is a burden and many of these groups will be delighted to get rid of their unwanted, bulky gear. You will often have more scope to negotiate your price with these places and they might even end up GIVING away their equipment.
Do not let strained finances dampen your enthusiasm for achieving greater health and a superior body. You don’t need a lot of money to perform fundamental fitness exercises. Activities like running are virtually free and a lot can be achieved with a basic free weights set and any other discount fitness equipment you can find via alternative avenues.
